In 1916, Nelly Don created a fashion empire and became one of the most wealthy and celebrated American women in business. She had a secret affair with a U.S. Senator and then bore his child, she was kidnapped and then rescued by gangsters, she fought unions and made most of the women's uniforms in WWII. She was beloved by her workers and became the grand dame of the fashion industry. She lived a fabled life and were her incredible story not true it would be hard to believe.
